James Cole ’79 Sworn in as Deputy Attorney General

James Cole ’79 was sworn in as the new U.S. Department of Justice’s Deputy Attorney General on Monday, Jan. 3.
Cole served at the Department of Justice for 13 years, first in the Criminal Division and then in the Public Integrity Section as deputy chief. He later entered private practice and has been a partner with Bryan Cave LLP since 1995. Cole also served as special counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Ethics committee, where he led the investigation of both Democratic and Republican elected and appointed officials.
Cole received his B.A. from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from UC Hastings in 1979.
