Chip Robertson ’98 Appointed by Governor to UC Hastings Board of Directors

Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Chip Robertson '98 as a member of the Board of Directors of University of California Hastings College of the Law. 

"This is an honor and a privilege," says Mr. Robertson. "I am grateful for the opportunity, and look forward to serving UC Hastings and the people of California."

"I have already had the opportunity to work closely with Chip," says UC Hastings Chancellor and Dean Frank H. Wu. "He has been a source of wonderful ideas for improving our operations, and he has been a terrific supporter of our faculty's academic research over the years."

Since 2006, Mr. Robertson, 39, has served as a Trustee of the UC Hastings Foundation and currently serves as Treasurer. At UC Hastings, he endowed the Chip W. Robertson Faculty Research Fund. Mr. Robertson is also a trustee of Westmark School in Encino, CA, a Principal at Warland Investments Company, a member of the Management Committee at Sample Digital Holdings LLC, and a former Associate at Paul Hastings LLP. Mr. Robertson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Berkeley, a Masters in Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, a DBS with Merit from the London School of Economics and a Juris Doctor degree from UC Hastings.

This position requires Senate confirmation, and there is no salary. 

University of California Hastings College of the Law was established by statute in 1878 and is governed by a Board of Directors. With the exception of one Board member who, as specified by statute, shall always be an heir or representative of Serranus Clinton Hastings, the members of the Board are appointed by the Governor of the State of California, confirmed by the State Senate and serve for 12 years.
