Moot Court Wins Asylum Competition

Second year students Katherine Mahoney and Aida Rodriguez won the National Championship title at the Asylum and Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition, sponsored by U.C. Davis School of Law on February 7, 2009. This is the second year in a row that Hastings has won this competition.
The competition was held at the United States District Court for Eastern District of California in Sacramento. It is the only immigration law moot court competition on the West Coast, and the only one in the nation devoted exclusively to the topic of asylum and refugee law.
The Hastings Moot Court program congratulates the team for this impressive first place finish, and thanks student coach Gabe Bombara for his support and input. Special thanks to alumni coach K.C. Donovan, who also coached last year's winning team.
