Eve Ensler, Vagina Monologues Author and V-Day Founder, Visits Hastings

Eve Ensler visits Hastings on February 18 to discuss gender violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ms. Ensler will be joined on the panel discussion by special guests Ann Veneman '76, executive director of UNICEF and former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Dr. Denis Mukwege, winner of the 2008 UN Human Rights Prize and founder of the ground breaking PANZI Hospital in Bukavua, where he cares for female rape victims in the Congo.

Ms. Ensler is the founder of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The movement supports anti-violence organizations worldwide, helping them to continue and expand their core work on the ground, while drawing public attention to the larger fight to stop worldwide violence (including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation, sexual slavery) against women and girls. In ten years, the V-Day movement has raised over $60 million.

This event takes place at 12 p.m. in the Alumni Reception Center of 200 McAllister Street in San Francisco. It is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
