Moot Court Teams Dominate Weekend Competitions
Two Hastings moot court teams finished as semifinalists in their competitions over the weekend, continuing an outstanding moot court competition record this spring.
Second year students Meghan Covert and Amanda Tylicki were semifinalists and placed third in the country at the National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition sponsored by Whittier Law School on February 7, 2009. The competition is a national event dedicated exclusively to issues confronting families and children. Congratulations to the team and thanks to alumni coaches Cathy Sakimura and Rob Depew and student coach Kyong Kim for their incredible support.
Down the street from Hastings at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, second year students Failop Chu, Anna Johnson, and third year student Nick Martin were semifinalists and placed third at the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition on February 7, 2009. This competition is sponsored by the International Trademark Association and is the only competition in the United States with a focus on trademark and unfair competition law. The Moot Court Department thanks student coaches Lisa Flanagan and Laura Mastrangelo and to alumni coach Vijay Toke for their invaluable input and guidance. Congratulations to the team!
