Moot Court Victory in NY

Pictured L to R:  Chris Dralla, Emily Chan, Robert Magee

Second year students Emily Chan, Chris Dralla, and Robert Magee captured a record number of awards at this year's Robert F. Wagner National Labor & Employment Law Moot Court Competition, March 11-15, 2009 at New York Law School in New York City.  The team advanced to the quarterfinal rounds (out of 45 teams), received the Third Place Best Brief award, and was honored as the Best Preliminary Round Team.  In addition, the competition acknowledged Emily Chan with the Best Oral Advocate Award.

The Wagner Competition is the nation’s largest student-run moot court competition and the only national competition dedicated exclusively to the areas of labor and employment law.  New York Law School sponsors this competition in honor of the late United States Senator, Robert F. Wagner, the architect of the National Labor Relations Act.

Congratulations to the team and thanks to student coach Heather Corini for her guidance and support!  The program would also like to thank the partners and associates at Littler Mendelson and Nixon Peabody for hosting team practices and offering invaluable input into the development of the team's award-winning arguments.

There are still plenty of teams who are preparing for their intercollegiate competitions this spring; please visit www.hastingsmootcourt.com to sign up to be a practice judge.
