Hastings swept the American Bar Association Law Student Division National Appellate Advocacy Competition (NAAC) regional rounds on February 26-28, 2009, taking two of the four spots that advance to the national competition in Chicago, April 2-4, 2009.  The two undefeated Hastings teams were: Dominic Signorotti, Carolyn Waysack, and Geoff Moore; and Jen Lynch, Reid Shannon, and Serena Longley.  Dominic Signorotti (3L) received the 2nd Place Oral Advocate Award, and Carolyn Waysack (3L) received the 7th Place Oral Advocate Award in the regional round.  In advancing through the regionals, the Hastings teams beat the teams from U.C. Berkeley and Stanford.

The NAAC competition is one of the most prestigious moot court competitions in the country, and includes teams from across the country, including Duke and Harvard.  This year's competition problem involved the War Powers Act and the limits on the authority of the executive branch to prosecute a war.

The Hastings Moot Court Program thanks student coaches Agnes Dziadur, Lacey Keys, and Alexa Woerner for all of their management and input.  Additionally, the program thanks alumni coaches Alyson Cabrera and Michael Cobden; we could not achieve this success without the support of the alumni that dedicate themselves to guiding these teams to victory!
