Hastings Moot Court Advances at Information Technology Competition

Second year students Nicole Black, Kai Savaree-Ruess, and Nicholas Roethlisberger (L to R) advanced to the quarterfinal rounds of the twenty-eighth annual John Marshall Law School International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology and Privacy Law, held in Chicago last week, October 1-3, 2009.  This was the season’s first competition for Hastings and got the program off to a great start for 2009-2010.

Established in 1981, the Marshall competition has become one of the largest and most highly respected of all international moot courts. Students from law schools throughout the country and from outside the U.S. gather at John Marshall each year to brief and argue challenging and unresolved issues of technology law. This year’s problem involved the privacy concerns of online mapping image technology as they intersected with a popular sports figure’s questionable recreational habits.

The Moot Court Department congratulates the team on this impressive result!  Special thanks to third year Kris Kokotaylo, moot court board member and the Marshall team student coach, as well as long-time moot court supporter and alumni coach Amy Rose for her leadership and guidance.

Other Hastings Moot Court teams are preparing now for upcoming competitions, and they need your help!
