Hastings Tang Team Wins National Championship

Hastings 2L students Yumi Nam and James de los Reyes won First Place at the National Championship of the Thomas Tang/NAPABA Moot Court Competition last weekend, November 19-22, 2009 in Boston, Massachusetts. The team also won the award for the Second Place Best Brief in the country. Congratulations to the team for winning this prestigious championship!
The Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition is administered by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. The Competition honors the late Judge Thomas Tang, a champion of individual rights and an advocate for the advancement of minority attorneys. The Competition is open to all students but is especially designed to reach out to APA law students, and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their writing and oral advocacy skills and compete for scholarships totaling $10,000.
The Hastings Moot Court Department extends special thanks to student coaches Euborn Chiu and Kyong Kim. The program also thanks Tang Alumni Coaches Michelle Law and Ryan Takemoto for their ongoing support of the Moot Court program.
