Professor Rory Little Publishes U.S. Supreme Court Criminal Law Decision Summaries

Professor Rory Little published summaries on two recent U.S. Supreme Court criminal law decisions on the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section website.
The summaries cover the cases United States v. Comstock and Graham v. Florida. The former deals with whether the federal government properly has power, under the "Necessary and Proper Clause," to enact a civil commitment statute for "mentally ill, sexually dangerous" federal prisoners, maintaining them in custody beyond the expiration of their criminal sentence. The latter addresses the Eighth Amendment barring sentences of life without parole for juveniles not convicted of a homicide offense.
