Bill Palmini, Hastings Chief of Public Safety, Receives National Drug Awareness Award

Hastings Chief of Public Safety Bill Palmini received the Enrique Camarena Drug Awareness Award from the national Elks club for his drug awareness work with youth. Palmini teaches kids the lessons of buckling up for safety, not drinking and driving and staying away from drugs by using music and his Elvis Presley impersonation.
Palmini has conducted more than 500 musical traffic safety presentations at schools and community events as "Elvis the Lawman." Usually dressed in a white or black polyester rhinestone suit straight from Presley's Las Vegas days, he sings songs such as "Buckle Up!," "Don't Be Another DUI," "Designated Driver Blues" and "One-Way Ride."
Acting Dean Leo Martinez '78 says, "Chief of Public Safety Bill Palmini's service to the Hastings community and the people of California is incredible, and he is well deserving of this signal recognition. We are honored and proud to count him among Hastings' finest."
Palmini has served as the Hastings Chief of Public Safety since 2006.
