Based on a comprehensive new study measuring where big firm partners went to law school, UC Hastings College of the Law ranks #1 in the San Francisco area, #6 in Los Angeles, #7 in San Diego and #18 nationally.
The research, conducted by Professor Ted Seto at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, looked at 16,799 partners at the nation’s 100 largest law firms, and was limited to individuals who received their JD in 1986 or after. The study is published in the Journal of Legal Education, and a summary of the work ran in the November edition of The National Jurist magazine.
“What this study shows is that employers who know UC Hastings know they can rely on this law school to produce great lawyers who are prepared to build practices and add value to any organization,” says Sari Zimmerman, Assistant Dean for the Office of Career & Professional Development.
