Justice Goodwin Liu Presents Tobriner Lecture on Constitutional Law

California Supreme Court Justice is 22nd Lecturer in Distinguished Series.

UC Hastings is pleased to present Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court as the 22nd speaker in the Mathew O. Tobriner Memorial Lecture on Constitutional Law series. Justice Liu will present Federal Law in State Court.

The event will take place at 3:30pm on April 17, 2013 in UC Hastings' Mary Kay Kane Hall, 200 McAllister Street, Alumni Reception Center (ARC). A reception will follow. Please RSVP by April 16, 2013

"The Tobriner Lecture has hosted a number of Supreme Court Justices over the years, including Justices William Brennan, Harry Blackmun, Shirley Abrahamson, Judith Kaye, Richard Goldstone, and Aharon Barak," noted UC Hastings Research Dean William Dodge. "We are pleased to renew the series with Justice Goodwin Liu, a member of the Court on which Justice Tobriner served."

Associate Justice Goodwin Liu

Justice Goodwin Liu is an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. He was confirmed to office by a unanimous vote of the California Commission on Judicial Appointments on August 31, 2011, following his appointment by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. on July 26, 2011. The Governor administered the oath of office to Justice Liu in a public ceremony in Sacramento, California on September 1, 2011.

Mathew O. Tobriner Memorial Lectures

Between October 1983 and October 2004, twenty-one lectures were presented at UC Hastings College of the Law by distinguished judges, legal scholars, and other prominent figures of national, or international, reputation. The great majority of the lectures were subsequently published in the Hastings Law Journal, the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly, or other publications affiliated with the College.
