          Professor Jared Ellias

The Stanford-Yale-Harvard Junior Faculty Forum selected UC Hastings Professor Jared Ellias's new paper “What Drives Bankruptcy Forum Shopping? Evidence from Market Data” to discuss at its annual conference.

Professor Ellias (bio) presented new empirical evidence that bankruptcy forum shopping might be driven by the predictability of the law in Delaware and New York, the two most popular bankruptcy forum shopping venues. He uses new econometric methods and a hand-collected dataset of the trading prices of the financial claims of bankrupt firms to analyze forum shopping using unbiased data.
