Your experience and knowledge are valuable gifts to Hastings students. As a volunteer, you can help organize events and programs, serve on reunion committees, raise much-needed funds, recruit students, assist with academic programs, offer career advice to budding lawyers, and more.

Alumni hosts sponsor and promote a wide variety of activities to strengthen ties between Hastings students, alumni and the school. Events include MCLE programs, social gatherings, newly admitted students receptions, theatre and sports activities, as well as many networking opportunities for alumni, faculty, and current students, both at the school and regionally.
The majority of our events are generously underwritten by Hastings alumni and their law firms or companies. Sponsors are recognized in related event promotions, in the school's annual report of philanthropy, and at each event.

The law school's Alumni Mentor Program pairs law students with alumni. As an experienced graduate, you can give students helpful career advice, connect them with other practitioners in the field, and provide understanding and support as students go through law school. The Office of Admissions encourages alumni to serve as welcome ambassadors by reaching out to newly admitted students. Alumni can speak to potential Hastings students interested in similar areas of the law or in practicing law in a particular location. Alumni are also invited to host an admitted student reception.

Career & Professional Development
Share your employment experience with current students as they look for summer and permanent positions. You can help guide a student in the following ways:
- Recruit on campus for summer internships and other positions
- Speak on career panels
- Post job announcements free through the Career & Professional Development Office or Hastings Careers Online
- Recruit lawyers to provide mock interviews during the spring or fall mock interview program
- Host a group of 10-15 students at your office for a reception and/or dinner, including a tour and discussion of your practice and career path

- Encouraging classmates to attend Alumni Weekend
- Serving as a committee chair
- Giving to the Reunion Class Campaign

Moot Court is required of all first-year law students as a part of the legal writing and research class. Appellate Advocacy is offered in the second year. Competition teams consist of students in their second or third year. Alumni participation is critical factor in the success of all these programs. Volunteers are needed for:
- Coaches for Moot Court competition teams
- Judges for first-year Moot Court oral arguments, second-year Appellate Advocacy arguments, and practice arguments for competition teams
- Community panel speakers
- Sponsors for Moot Court competition teams
- Sponsors for the annual Moot Court Awards Banquet and other moot court events

Negotiation and Mediation Team
Help the Hastings Student Negotiation and Mediation teams by coaching practice sessions and helping them prepare for competition.

The Center for Gender and Refugee Studies provides legal expertise and resources to attorneys representing women asylum seekers who are fleeing gender-related harm. We need your help to:
- Arrange a training at your firm or company about pro bono representation of asylum seekers
- Arrange for a center representative to give a presentation at your firm or company about the issues facing refugee women and girls
- Sponsor a fundraising event to benefit the center
- Help secure a gift from your firm or company to benefit the center's programs and appellate work
