Student Life at Hastings

What do Hastings students get into when they are not plowing through case books or participating in pro bono activities? To begin, they actively participate in a wide variety of campus community groups.  There are numerous student organizations on campus, such as the Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation, La Raza, and the Hastings Softball Club. And the saying goes here, “if we don’t have an organization that suits your interests, start one up.”

Many Hastings students take time to work off stress at our fitness center or in our gymnasium, both of which are located in "The Tower." The Fitness center features weight training equipment, cardiovascular machines, and a host aerobic, yoga, and wellness programs. Our gymnasium is equipped with a full indoor basketball court, which the Hastings community uses for basketball, volleyball, and other intramural sports.

Another way Hastings students tend to "kick-it” is by participating in numerous school-wide social events. The most popular of these events is “Beer on the Beach,” where various campus organizations sponsor a Thursday afternoon reception, allowing students to mingle with classmates and participate in a host of amusing activities. Hastings also puts on “The Cabaret,” which gives students the chance to showcase their imagination as well as their talent. The annual “Law Revue” places Hastings’ comedians at center stage for a night of hilarious skits and sketches. And Hastings takes the party off-campus for the annual Barrister’s Ball and Spring Fling.

Last but certainly not least, Hastings students unwind by enjoying the abundant cultural and entertainment opportunities they have living in the Bay Area.
