Campus Identification Cards
All members of the UC Hastings College of the Law community must carry with them at all times their Hastings issued photo ID card. Your ID card must be displayed at all times while on campus, and shown upon entry to any of Hastings' buildings.
Card Issuance
You must have a form of government issued identification that includes your photograph, e.g., passport, state issued driver's license, or state issued identification card, or a verification form from records, or Human Resources in order to be issued a campus photo ID.
Students
Always carry your campus identification card. In addition to using it to check out books at the library, the card serves as an access card for use in areas such as the Computer Lab in the Law Library, the bike cage in front of 200, and at card readers throughout the campus. You will also need it in the evening and on weekends to enter campus buildingswhen access is restricted.
Cards must be presented in any of the campus buildings upon request by College officials.
CARD USE / ACCESS
The campus ID card is a proximity card. It operates by placing the card near a reader. When you hear a "beep", the reader displays a green light and access is granted.
There are several readers currently installed on the Hastings campus: The Hyde Street entrance doors to 198 McAllister (Authorized Access Only), the 100 McAllister Tower front doors, the 200 McAllister building front doors, the student Bicycle Rack at 200 McAllister, the Law Library computer lab, and the Hastings Parking Garage.
The 200 and 198 McAllister buildings are open (7am - 11pm Mon-Fri) , (9am-10pm Sat), and (9am-11pm Sun).
The 100 McAllister Tower reader is accessible 24hrs a day, 7days a week with your card.
Your card will also be used for copies/printing on campus.
You will also need it to borrow books from Hastings' Law Library.
If you are a monthly parker in the UC Hastings Garage, you will use this card for access through pedestrian and vehicle gates/readers.
VALIDATION : (STUDENTS ONLY)
The ID Card is validated with a current semester sticker when the ID Card is initially issued.
With a current semester's validation sticker you can receive a discounted parking rate at the Hastings Parking Garage for an all day rate of $8.00(no in and out), You MUST pay the attendant in person to receive the discounted rate. The Public rate is $22.00 per day maximum.
Subsequent semester validation stickers are available to current students in the Office of Fiscal Services.
LOST/STOLEN CARDS
Please report lost or stolen cards to the Department of Public Safety either in person or by phone at 415.565.4611.
Replacement cards will be issued to students after first reporting the loss to Records. Students should go to Fiscal Services to pay the $10 replacement fee, and bring both receipts to verify enrollment to the Department of Public Safety.
