The headquarters of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is an excellent place not only to hear oral argument in one of the most important courts in the country but also to see some of the greatest architecture that San Francisco has to offer.
On select days of the month, panels of three judges hear multiple cases in one of four courtrooms in the San Francisco courthouse. The court makes available information about significant cases set for oral argument. The Court's full current calendar is organized by month and hearing location; the Ninth Circuit hears cases in Anchorage, AK; Pasadena, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Portland, OR; and Seattle, WA as well as in San Francisco.
The Court appreciates knowing in advance if a group plans to attend to assure sufficient seating (sometimes in an overflow courtroom with a video feed). Contact Kathleen Butterfield, a court staff attorney, to make arrangements or for other information about court attendance, at 415.556.9884.
