On April 9, 2020, the very first virtual Creative Commons event was hosted by Gabriel Bellman from the Career Development Office, and co-hosted by Mattie Robertson from the Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CNDR). We held the workshop on Microsoft Teams, which the whole Hastings community has been using since moving things off campus. We were proud to have students, staff, and faculty participate in the online workshop. The theme was:
“Thinking Slow… Think FAST!”
Different types of thinking are useful in different parts of your career and daily life, so we focused on how to best use these in different situations and how to be more mindful of when each one is occurring.
During the interactive workshop we discussed “fast & slow thinking” (terminology from the book by Daniel Kahneman), and practiced switching between the two through some creative writing exercises. Some fantastic stories were shared, and we all felt closer to one another at the end of the hour. A powerful feeling during these challenging times!
We hope to see you at the next Creative Commons!
