Pathways to ADR Career Panel

On February 21, 2023, the Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CNDR) and the Career Development Office co-hosted a panel welcoming commercial ADR providers.

Aaron Gothelf, Esq., Vice President, American Arbitration Association, along with Serena K. Lee, Esq., Vice President of Operations, and Monica Bowen, VP Talent Acquisition, both from JAMS, joined students for a practical discussion on what steps students can take to prepare for a career in dispute resolution.

Along with plenty of tips and resources, the panel encouraged students to get creative with their career journey, bearing in mind that it may not always be linear and there are alternatives to being a practicing mediator, such as being an ombuds or working for ADR institutions. And, for those students interested in commercial mediation or arbitration, the panel emphasized the importance of gaining practical expertise and experience.
