Services for Alumni

Library Access

Library access is currently restricted to current UC Hastings students, faculty and staff until further notice.

Borrowing Materials

The Law Library operates an annual membership program for unaffiliated borrowers. More details are available here.

Online Databases

The Library subscribes to numerous research databases, including HeinOnline, ProQuest Journals, and the complete BNA library, which alumni are free to use while on-campus. We also provide free Westlaw access to federal and state primary law via a dedicated computer terminal in the library. Please stop by the Reference Desk for help using these resources.

Alumni on campus have internet access on the “HastingsGuest” wifi network.  Users will be prompted to accept the UC Hastings Acceptable Use Policy before being allowed to access the Internet. Alumni are also welcome to use the Library’s public computers on the 4th Floor (with access to the Library’s catalog and databases) anytime.

Westlaw for Recent Graduates

The Law Library is now providing our graduates with 18 months of free access, starting right after graduation, to Westlaw, Practical Law, Drafting Assistant, Practice Point, Document & Form Builder, and more!  Commercial use is allowed and encouraged!  Start your firm, agency, or corporate job with the tools you need to succeed as a new associate. To take advantage of this program, you must enroll in Grad Elite.  To enroll, click on this link:  https://lawschool.westlaw.com/authentication/gradelite.  To find out more about the Westlaw tools that are now available to you, go here:  https://lawschool.westlaw.com/marketing/display/PR/4

We also provide free Westlaw access to federal and state primary law via a dedicated computer terminal in the library.

Reference Services

Alumni are encouraged to take advantage of the Reference Librarians’ expertise! Feel free to call or stop by the Reference Desk with your research questions. The Reference Librarians can help you formulate your search strategy and point you toward relevant resources available in the library and online. And don’t forget the wealth of information available on the Library website, including our research guides and links to free online resources.

Bar Study Materials

The library has prepared an online study guide with links to California bar exam questions organized by subject. We also have past California bar exams going back to the 1930’s, as well as bar study books and flashcards.
