Cotchett Law Center

UC Law SF dedicated the cornerstone building of its new Academic Village at 333 Golden Gate Avenue on Aug. 27, 2020, announcing it is naming the Cotchett Law Center in honor of alumnus Joseph W. Cotchett ’64, one of America’s most distinguished attorneys and a dedicated patron of the college. The college’s first new academic building in 40 years, it was designed to Platinum LEED standards with six stories and 57,000 square feet of smart classrooms, offices, and a Sky Deck overlooking City Hall.

198 McAllister Street

With 356,000 square feet, the new building will include academic and retail space plus below-market graduate student housing for some 670 students from UC Law SF; the University of California, San Francisco; and other institutions of higher education. Occupancy is set for June 2023. The developer is Greystar, the architect is Perkins & Will, and the general contractor is San Francisco-based Build Group.

Green Community Benefits Plan

UC Law SF has adopted a Green Community Benefits Plan in conjunction with its student housing project at 198 McAllister Street. The purpose of the plan is to reduce the effects of tree removals required by the project. Designed to go beyond mere mitigation, the plan includes creating green infrastructure of benefit to both the school community and the Tenderloin neighborhood. Community engagement will inform the design and implementation of the plan.

198 McAllister Street

UC Law SF secured $364 million in tax-exempt bond financing for construction of a 14-story, mixed-use complex that will replace Snodgrass Hall at 198 McAllister Street and add much-needed student housing.
