UC Hastings is one of a limited number of law schools with housing devoted exclusively to its students.
McAllister Tower, which is located one block away from the school’s academic and administrative buildings, is an iconic San Francisco building. Formerly the Empire Hotel, it once featured a full-scale church on its ground floors and was one of San Francisco’s tallest structures. Now part of the National Register Uptown Tenderloin Historic District, Hastings’ residential center holds 252 efficiency, studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments on 17 floors.
