Early Interview Program

The Early Interview Program (EIP; formerly Fall OCI) is an efficient, streamlined process for interviewing UC Hastings College of the Law’s second-year students for summer positions and third-year students for permanent post-J.D. positions. Employers may prescreen résumés and select up to 75 percent of their interview candidates.

The 2020 Early Interview Program will take place from July 29th through August 4th, 2020. Registration will be open to employers on Monday, March 2nd on and will end on Thursday, June 11th.

EIP Fees

No Charge for: government agencies, public interest organizations, résumé collection only (any employer type), and first time participants (any employer type).

EIP Registration Instructions

If you do not have an account on HCO, please register online at You will be prompted to complete a profile. Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email with a link to create a password. Your username is your email address.

Once you are logged on to HCO, click on the “Early Interview Program” tab on the left of your screen. (If you have not done so already, you will be prompted to complete feedback forms for Summer 2019 before you can register for 2020 EIP.) From there, click on the “Schedule Request ” tab on the left and then click on the “Request a Schedule” button in the middle of your screen. Then you can complete the “Schedule Request” form.

EIP Cancellation Policy:

If you must cancel your EIP schedule, please do so by June 11, 2020, to be eligible to request a refund. A $50-$100 administrative fee will be withheld, depending upon the size of the employer. For cancellations requested after the cancellation deadline, no refund will be available.

EIP Materials & Guidelines:

Please be sure to update or complete a NALP form and Workplace Questionnaire. If you are not a NALP employer, you can still complete the forms and either upload them to your Profile or e-mail them to us at The forms are available on NALP’s website. No hard-copy materials are required.

Fall & Spring On-Campus Interviews

Fall and Spring Semester OCI (“Fall OCI” and “Spring OCI”) are on-campus interview programs that take place during the semester. Employers can interview students on any school day they choose. Fall & Spring OCI are free of charge and employers can pre-screen 100% of the candidates you wish to interview. Employers can register at any time during the Fall and Spring semesters. The Career Office will handle all interview logistics, including posting the job opportunity on HCO (Symplicity), collecting student application materials, and arranging interview schedules.
