The Chancellor and Dean’s Office collaborates with campus leaders and UC Law SF stakeholders to guide strategic initiatives and priorities for the School.

Chancellor and Dean

David Faigman is the John F. Digardi Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco and holds an appointment as Professor in the School of Medicine (Dept. of Psychiatry) at the University of California, San Francisco. He received both his M.A. (Psychology) and J.D. from the University of Virginia. Professor Faigman clerked for the Honorable Thomas M. Reavley, Senior Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Assistant Chancellor and Dean/Chief of Staff

Jenny Kwon advises the Chancellor and Dean on the administration of the campus and guides the implementation of college-wide strategic priorities, including developing partnerships and collaborations across other UC campuses.

Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Initiatives

Mario Ernesto Lopez is the inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives and advises the Chancellor and Dean on campus-wide diversity initiatives, oversees first-generation programming, and is a key strategic partner with departments across the college.

Mario earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, earned his Juris Doctor from UC Law SF, and is a member of the California Bar.

Executive Assistant and Events Specialist

Sonia Chahal supports the Chancellor & Dean’s Office in scheduling, travel, office management, finance, and other special projects aligned with our priorities. She also supports the Alumni Engagement team within the Advancement Office, managing events and meetings that involve the Chancellor & Dean’s Office.

Sonia has a breadth of administrative and events experience. She previously spent 6 years at UC Berkeley where she most recently served as an Event Specialist in University Development and Alumni Relations, managing campus events including those involving the Chancellor. Before that, she served as an Administrative Officer and Financial Analyst within UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering. Sonia received her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara.
