Antitrust in the New Millennium Symposium
April 4, 2019 @ 1:15 pm - 5:30 pm
Antitrust is back in the news. Popular publications excoriate current antitrust law as the cause of a new 21st Century Gilded Age. At the same time, leading industrial organization economists are finding that many of the key assumptions undergirding existing antitrust jurisprudence are either incorrect or misunderstood.
What is to be made of these developments? How do we distinguish “hipster antitrust” from cutting edge economic developments that should inform the development of antitrust law? If industrial organization economics supports new antitrust thinking, how should courts, government agencies, litigators, and legislative bodies react?
This symposium is designed to address these major questions. It brings together thoughtful economists, trial lawyers and Hastings professors to assess where we are and where antitrust law may go next.
A networking reception will immediately follow the symposium.
