CLQ Annual Symposium: Heller at Ten
January 18 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
A Symposium on the Law – and Next – Decade of the Modern Second Amendment
The Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly (CLQ) and Giffords Law Center would like to invite you to attend Heller at Ten: A Symposium on the Law – and Next – Decade of the Modern Second Amendment
On June 26, 2008, in District of Columbia v. Heller, the Supreme Court upended centuries of settled law and invested the Second Amendment with a new meaning unrecognized since the Founding Era. In the ten years since, judges, lawyers and scholars have worked to build an entire field of constitutional doctrine from the ground up. Meanwhile, gun policy debates have taken center stage after a series of devastating mass shootings, and the reshaping of the federal judiciary under President Trump portends significant long-term shifts in Second Amendment law.
Reaching Heller’s tenth anniversary presents a unique opportunity to bring together scholars, adovcates and litigators for a symposium that will critically assess the maturation of Second Amendment law and the new legal arguments and doctrine it has generated.
