The Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal symposium, “Immigration Detention: The Process, the Profiteers, and the Resistance,” highlights how the detention in the immigration system is evolving to mirror the criminal justice system. The symposium will focus on how procedural and technological changes have impacted the detention process, including how technologies like digital shackles perpetuate the marginalization of people beyond physical space.
