Tax Concentration Panel
March 27 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Thinking about tax but not sure what a tax career actually entails? Wondering about the type of work a J.D. can do in the tax field? There are many ways to pursue a tax career—working at big law firms, small law firms, accounting firms, consulting firms, or in government (and more); doing tax planning, tax compliance, and/or tax controversy; and specializing in different substantive areas (e.g., individual tax, business tax, international tax, estate/gift tax, state and local tax, nonprofits, etc.). Join us for a panel of speakers with very different tax careers, and most of their employers regularly recruit UC Hastings students. The panelists will share information about their practice experiences, tips for landing a job and having a successful career, guidance about why someone might want to pursue these careers, and more.
We have a great line-up of panelists: Filip Babic (’14) from The Law Offices of Steven L. Walker, Nick Bondar-Netis (’14) from Ernst & Young, Sophie Kampa (’15) from the California Department of Fee & Tax Administration, Molly Schneider (’13) from Venable, and Rachael Shinno (’15) from Alvarez & Marsal. Moderated by Prof. Heather Field. Bring your questions!
The UC Hastings Events Calendar offers a comprehensive list of campus events, including co-curricular programming, faculty lectures, colloquia, wellness activities, alumni events, larger departmental meetings, and events sponsored by College departments, faculty, law journals, and registered student orgs. This functions as the College’s master calendar, which includes all events taking place on campus on any particular day. Students, faculty, or staff: Please visit MyHastings for information regarding the new guidelines and procedures for room reservations and publicizing your events.
