Daniel
Bromberg

Affiliated Scholar at the Center for Litigation and Courts

Biography

An appellate lawyer with nearly three decades of experience, Dan Bromberg has argued successfully before the U.S. Supreme Court and has litigated appeals in federal courts across the country, the California Supreme Court, and every Appellate District in California.

Dan currently is the appellate practice leader at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Previously, he was a founding member of the appellate group at Quinn Emanuel and, before that, part of Jones Day’s Supreme Court practice. From 2019 to 2021, Dan served as a Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary in the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom, where he supervised litigation concerning, among other things, President Trump’s diversion of funding for the border wall and the constitutionality of California’s COVID-19 restrictions.

In his role as Senior Appellate Practice Fellow, Dan heads the appellate-advocacy arm of the Center. He files amicus briefs on behalf of the Center that advance the Center’s mission and runs a program for appellate-advocacy preparation and training.
