Biography

Rhiannon  Bailard is a veteran administrator in higher education, having served at three different institutions of higher education for a period of fifteen years and counting. As our Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Bailard oversees Facilities, Construction, Sustainability, Safety, Events, the Academic Village, and Space Allocation. Prior to joining the leadership team of UC Hastings Law, she served as the Associate Vice President for Governmental & Regulatory Affairs at Pepperdine University, where she served for twelve years. Her accomplishments there include Los Angeles County and California Coastal Commission approval of a Long Range Campus Plan and establishment of the Pepperdine University Center for Sustainability. Prior to attending law school at the Caruso School of Law at Pepperdine University, she worked at her undergraduate alma mater, the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Ms. Bailard also proudly serves as the Vice President of the Board of the Tenderloin Community Benefits District, which works to foster connections in the Tenderloin neighborhood through events, programs, and projects that seek to benefit all people as broadly defined. And, she is the External Affairs Chair of the Board for Save the Bay.

Personally, Ms. Bailard is adopted, named after a Fleetwood Mac song, and was born and raised in Hawaii. She currently lives in the trees of Oakland with her husband, young son, another son on the way, and an old yet wild black lab named Ziggy.
