Biography

Stephen Liacouras is the Chief Circuit Mediator at United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit where he oversees a staff of seven mediators and five support staff. Mr. Liacouras mediates a wide variety of civil cases, including employment, contract, environmental, insurance, bankruptcy, intellectual property, ERISA and civil rights matters. Before joining the court as a mediator in 2001, he practiced civil litigation at Rosen, Bien, Galvan & Grunfeld (formerly Rosen, Bien & Asaro), worked as an in-house attorney at Centaur Technology in Austin Texas, and clerked for Chief Judge Sloviter on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. Mr. Liacouras received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1990 and his B.A. from University of California at Berkeley in 1986.
